Dr. Raed Mohsen joined the Lebanese American University in 1996 as a faculty member in the Communication Arts Department. He holds a Ph.D. in Interpersonal and Public Communication (1987), a Master of Arts in Political Science (Public Administration) (1984), a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal and Public Communication (1983) from Bowling Green State University, and a Masters of Social Work (1996) from Gallaudet University where he also taught for seven years in the Department of Communication Arts.
Dr. Mohsen is specialized in human communication. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Learning Center for the Deaf. He is a co-founder and an honorary member of the Lebanese Association for Mediation and Conciliation.
Prior to his appointment as a Dean of Students, Dr. Mohsen chaired the Communication Arts Department (2006-2009), elected and served as a Faculty Representative for six terms. He has his clinical social work practice, counseling adolescents, couples, and families. He appears bi-weekly on local TV stations, addressing social, marital, and familial issues. As a communication consultant, he presents workshops and training seminars on conflict management and resolution, team building, presentation skills, and parenting skills.
Dr. Mohsen is very well acquainted with, and knowledgeable about, the social fabric of the student body. He believes that the University community must nurture and cherish a harmonious climate on campus and among students. Student services, along with other University units, face the challenge of empowering the students while embedding in them the values of tolerance and respect.
