The Department of Mass Communication at Sultan Qaboos University is one of the leading academic departments at the university. It was established in 1987 with the aim of training and qualifying Omani cadres in various media fields, such as journalism, e-publishing, public relations, radio, and television. Academic Programs

The department offers bachelor's programs in media and postgraduate programs. The master's program began in 2005, with 90 students graduating from it by 2023. The doctoral program was recently approved and will begin receiving students in the fall of 2023.

The department is an active member of the joint committee between the university and the Ministry of Information. Academic Accreditation

The department obtained international academic accreditation for its bachelor's and master's programs from the German Foundation for Accreditation of Academic Programs (AQAS) in 2019, reflecting the quality of the education and programs provided.
