Muna Salim Aullad Thani, Mrs.

Integrating technology into the classroom is an effective way to address students’ needs. One appropriate tool teachers can utilize to engage students and encourage their participation is through a classroom website. A classroom website also helps teachers remain up-to-date with modern approaches in educational technology. This workshop will highlight the educational benefits and challenges of a classroom website and offer examples of free, user-friendly websites that allow teachers to publish within hours. Participants will have the chance to create their own websites near the end of the session.

Preparing for and surviving General Foundation Program Quality Audit. (Certified Workshop)

Adam Biscoe, Dr.

All Foundation Programs in Oman are scheduled to undergo the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority’s (OAAA) General Foundation Program Quality Audit. By the time of this workshop 13 HEIs will have already undergone GFP Quality Audit. This workshop provides an introduction to GFP Quality Audit and, based on an analysis of the first GFP Quality Audit reports, provides some pointers on how to prepare for and survive a GFP Quality Audit Panel visit. Good practice indicates that preparing for an external audit such as GFP Quality Audit should commence at least two years in advance of the intended panel visit. This Workshop will explore why there is a need for such long-term planning and identify some of the key activities that need to be undertaken in the period leading up to the Panel visit.

Friday 12 April, 10:15 am - 11:15 am (Room is written on the voucher)

Innovating with Exploratory Action Research. (Certified Workshop)

Richard Smith, Dr.

Developed for purposes of continuing professional development in Latin America and South Asia, Exploratory Action Research offers a practical, down-to-earth and useful way for teachers to innovate in their own classrooms. For innovation to be effective it is necessary to understand the situation as fully as possible and then identify possible solutions. Monitoring, evaluating and learning from what is attempted are also important. This workshop introduces the basic principles of Exploratory Action Research in a hands-on manner, taking participants from identifying a situation for further investigation to deciding on research methods, analysing results, and planning and evaluating change.

Friday 12 April, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm (Room is written on the voucher)
