Call for proposal
Proposal submission deadline: 10th November 2019
This year's conference is a reflection upon the 20 years of experience that has been amassed by Oman ELT, as well as a look into new and innovative ways of approaching teaching and learning as the field moves forward into the future.
The title of the conference,” Building Upon the Past, Envisioning the Future,” invites us to share best practices, consider strategies to encourage engagement for all stakeholders in ELT, and to promote new ways of looking at teaching and learning in ELT. The theme can be explored via practical, theoretical or research strands. Proposals in any of the following sub-themes are highly appreciated:
- Teaching and Learning
What are the best practices that have been developed and can continue to serve ELT in the future? What are the shifting expectations, changes, or continuities in the field of English language teaching and learning?
- Assessment and Testing
How has assessment and testing developed alongside the changes in teaching and learning? Are we addressing the learning needs of our students? What is the washback? Are we testing what we teach, or teaching what we test?
- Curriculum Development
In what ways have the developments in the field of ELT curriculum contributed to the enhancement of teaching and learning in ELT classrooms? How can curricula be a starting point for ELT programmes in a very dynamic and changing world? How can curricula be applied, managed, or changed?
- Quality Management
How can quality management enhance teaching and learning? How can we ensure an approach is effectively managed and supported? What are the inherent challenges and how can diverse programs share common goals?
- E-learning
How has technology influenced our classrooms? What is the impact of digital affordances, e-learning, flipped learning, new literacies, and gamification? Have we overcome the digital divide among our students?
